San Mamés (Bilbao) stadium is popularly known as “The Cathedral” and is already part of the history of Europe and world football since this evening’s UEFA Women’s Champions League final between Olympique Lyonnais and Fútbol Club Barcelona as it broke the attendance record so far. The previous record attendance was set in Munich with 50,212 fans.

The Spanish city is football-loving like no other and it was empty during this unique event where the greatest-ever women’s football match played between clubs took place. Lyon and Barça delighted 50,827 fans who packed the San Mamés stadium. It was undoubtedly another extraordinary day for football, the king of sports in our country.
